i brought the wife and father-in-law on this week's trip to myakka. we hadn't started the hike and saw two groups of wild boars and a family of deer on the drive in. a huge boar was waiting at the trailhead when we started and another family of boars greeted us on the hike back (with tom's 2" boy scout knife in hand). my shoulders were giving me problems the whole hike. i couldn't tell if it was a backpack adjustment issue or they were still sore from friday's workout at the gym. i made it through and the wife did quite well....although i think she appreciates what i'm going a little more. we are off to tennesse on friday for a week and i hope to get a hike or two in while we are there. when i get back there will only be two more weekends to hike before we leave.
i received my Go-Lite Umbrella, Petzk Tikkina headlamp, and Outdoor Research Rocky Mountain low gaiters in the mail this week. I still need a hat, pillow, water shoes and tent footprint.
Glad to see I'm not the only one thinking umbrella...
