i flew into seattle yesterday. i haven't trained since the last post other than a few 3 mile runs at the gym. we are headed out today to pick-up all the last minute groceries. we are leaving chris's house at 5 AM tomorrow to join up with the other guys and drive to vancouver. we have to make the ferry over to vancouver as it only runs twice a day. the goal is to make it to port renfrew (the start of the hike) by 3:30 so we can sit in on the last orientation of the day. this will allow us to start our hike early on saturday. our goal saturday is to hike hard the first day and bypass the first campsite, thrasher, and go to camper. this will allow the rest of the trip to be a little more leisurely. also, our last day needs to be manageable because we have to catch a 1:00 ferry from bamfield back to our car. the ferry only runs once a day and consists of a 3.5 hour boat ride along the coast.
the weather is definitely cooler up here and our trip should have highs in the 60s and lows in the 50s.
i'm not sure how ready we are as a group.... chris was in europe and egypt for work the past three weeks and hasn't trained for a month, one guy just bought all his gear two nights ago, and apparently one guys packs everything including the kitchen sink....and then there's me....west coast trail on a treadmill.....it should be an interesting trip.
